Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Arthur Stepanov (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and shares information when you use the Teleprompter app for iPhone and iPad (the “App”). The App is designed to work locally: your scripts and recordings stay on your device. We collect only the limited technical and purchase information we need to run the App, fix problems, measure our advertising and sell subscriptions.
The short version
- Your scripts and videos are stored on your device. We do not upload, see or keep them.
- Voice Scroll runs on your device using Apple’s speech recognition. We never receive your voice.
- We collect app usage analytics, crash reports and purchase information. You do not need an account, and we do not ask for your name or email.
- We do not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and we do not sell your personal information.
- You can ask us to access or delete your data at any time: teleprompter.support@gmail.com.
1. Who we are
The App is developed and published on the App Store by Arthur Stepanov, an individual developer (the name shown as the seller on the App Store). For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) and the UK GDPR, we are the controller of the personal data described in this policy.
Contact: teleprompter.support@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Content that stays on your device
- Scripts. The text you type, paste or edit in the App is stored in the App’s local storage on your device. It is not sent to us.
- Recordings. When you record, the App uses your camera and microphone to create a video on your device. At your request, the video is saved to your Photos library or shared through the iOS share sheet to a destination you choose. We do not receive, copy or analyze your recordings. The App does not perform facial recognition or any other biometric analysis.
- Settings. Your prompter preferences (for example, text size, scrolling speed, mirror mode and countdown) are stored locally on your device.
2.2 Voice Scroll
If you turn on Voice Scroll, the App listens through your microphone and uses Apple’s Speech framework to follow what you say and scroll your script. Speech recognition is performed on your device. The audio and the resulting transcript are used only to scroll the script in real time. They are not sent to us, not stored by the App after the session ends, and not used for any other purpose.
2.3 Information collected automatically
- Device and app information: device model, operating system version, app version, language, time zone and region settings.
- Identifiers: a random identifier generated by the App and Apple’s identifier for vendor (IDFV). These identifiers do not reveal who you are and are not the advertising identifier (IDFA).
- Approximate location: country and region, derived from your IP address. We do not collect precise (GPS) location.
- Usage data: how you interact with the App, for example onboarding steps, screens viewed, features used (creating a script, starting the prompter, starting or finishing a recording, using Voice Scroll), session times and views of the subscription screen. Usage data never includes the text of your scripts or the content of your recordings.
- Diagnostics: crash logs, stack traces, the device state at the time of a crash and basic performance data.
2.4 Purchase information
Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple. Through our subscription management provider, we receive information about your purchases: the product purchased, price and currency, purchase, renewal and expiration dates, free trial status, cancellations, refunds and transaction identifiers. We never receive your name, Apple ID, payment card details or billing address.
2.5 Advertising attribution
We advertise the App on Apple Search Ads. If you download the App after tapping one of our ads, Apple’s AdServices framework may provide us with information about that ad, such as the campaign, ad group, keyword, country and date. This information does not include your IDFA, does not identify you personally and does not require App Tracking Transparency permission. We use it only to measure which of our ads work.
2.6 Information you send us
If you contact us, we receive your email address, any name you include, the content of your message and any attachments, and your Support ID if you choose to share it.
2.7 What we do not collect
The App has no user accounts. We do not collect your name or email address (unless you write to us), your contacts, your precise location, your advertising identifier (IDFA), health or biometric data, or any special categories of personal data.
3. Device permissions
The App asks for a permission only when you first use a feature that needs it. You can change your choice at any time in iOS Settings › Teleprompter.
| Permission | Why we need it | If you decline |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | To record video of you while the script is shown on screen. | You can still write scripts and use the prompter without recording. |
| Microphone | To record sound with your video and to power Voice Scroll. | Recording with sound and Voice Scroll are not available. |
| Speech Recognition | To follow your speech on the device and scroll the script (Voice Scroll). | You can use manual or automatic scrolling instead. |
| Photos (add only) | To save finished videos to your Photos library. The App cannot see your other photos. | You can export videos through the share sheet instead. |
4. How we use information and our legal bases
| Purpose | Information used | Legal basis (GDPR / UK GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Provide the App and its features | Device and app information, identifiers | Performance of our contract with you (the Terms of Use) |
| Process and restore subscriptions, and prevent fraud | Purchase information, identifiers | Performance of contract; our legitimate interest in preventing fraud |
| Understand how the App is used and improve it, including testing different versions of onboarding and subscription screens | Usage data, device and app information, approximate location, identifiers | Our legitimate interest in improving the App. You can opt out (section 9) |
| Find and fix crashes and technical issues | Diagnostics, device and app information | Our legitimate interest in keeping the App stable and secure |
| Measure the performance of our Apple Search Ads campaigns | Advertising attribution data, purchase information | Our legitimate interest in understanding which ads work |
| Answer your questions and requests | Information you send us | Performance of contract; our legitimate interest in supporting users |
| Comply with the law and enforce our Terms | Any of the above, as necessary | Legal obligation; our legitimate interests |
We do not make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects for you.
5. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that process it on our behalf and under our instructions. Each of them is bound by a contract that requires it to keep the data confidential and to protect it to a standard at least equal to the one described in this policy.
| Provider | What it does for us |
|---|---|
| Apple Inc. | App distribution, payments, subscription management, Apple Search Ads attribution (AdServices), on-device speech recognition |
| RevenueCat, Inc. (USA) | Subscription status, receipt validation and purchase analytics |
| Amplitude, Inc. (USA) | Product analytics (usage data) |
| Google LLC (USA) | Firebase Crashlytics (crash reporting) and Google Cloud BigQuery (secure storage and analysis of analytics and purchase data) |
| Microsoft Corporation (USA) | Power BI (internal reporting, mostly based on aggregated data) |
| Our email service provider | Receiving and answering your support emails |
We may also disclose information: (a) if required by law or a valid request from a public authority; (b) to protect our rights, users or the public; (c) to a buyer or successor if the App is sold or transferred, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information; or (d) with your consent.
6. Tracking and advertising
We do not track you. That means we do not link data collected in the App with data from other companies’ apps, websites or offline sources for targeted advertising or advertising measurement, and we do not share your data with data brokers. The App does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), which is why it does not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt. The App does not show third-party ads. We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined in U.S. state privacy laws.
7. International transfers
Our service providers are located in the United States and other countries. When we transfer personal data from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland to a country that does not provide an adequate level of protection, we rely on appropriate safeguards: the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions) where the recipient is certified, or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum. You can ask us for more information about these safeguards.
8. How long we keep data
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Scripts and settings | On your device until you delete them or delete the App |
| Recordings | On your device and in your Photos library until you delete them. Deleting the App does not delete videos you saved to Photos |
| Voice Scroll audio and transcripts | Not retained after the session |
| Usage data and identifiers | Up to 24 months from collection, then deleted or anonymized |
| Crash reports | Up to 90 days |
| Purchase information | While your subscription is active and afterwards for as long as required by accounting, tax and other legal obligations |
| Support correspondence | Up to 24 months after your request is resolved |
9. Your choices and rights
9.1 Choices in the App and on your device
- Permissions: turn camera, microphone, speech recognition and Photos access on or off in iOS Settings › Teleprompter.
- Analytics: turn off “Share usage analytics” in the App’s Settings › Privacy. Crash reports and purchase information needed to provide your subscription will still be processed.
- Local data: delete scripts in the App, or delete the App to remove all data stored in it.
9.2 Access and deletion requests
Because the App has no accounts, we identify your data by your Support ID. To find it, open the App’s Settings › Privacy › Copy Support ID, and include it in your email to teleprompter.support@gmail.com. We will respond within one month (this can be extended where the law allows). When we delete your data, we also instruct our service providers (RevenueCat, Amplitude and Google) to delete it. Apple keeps your purchase history under its own privacy policy.
9.3 If you are in the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland
You have the right to access your personal data, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to its processing (including processing based on our legitimate interests), to data portability, and to withdraw your consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, in particular in the country where you live or work. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
9.4 If you are in the United States
Depending on your state of residence (for example, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia or Texas), you may have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to access and receive a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising. We do not sell or share personal information, do not use it for targeted advertising and do not collect sensitive personal information. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision with the word “Appeal”.
10. Security
We protect data with encryption in transit (TLS), access controls limited to people who need access, and the security measures of our service providers. Your scripts and recordings are protected by your device’s own security, including its passcode and data protection. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the authorities of a personal data breach where the law requires it.
11. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under the minimum age of digital consent in your country, which is 16 in some EU countries). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, if the changes are significant, we will notify you in the App before they take effect.
